Itinerary

Day 1Arrival

Upon arrival at Kigali International airport, you will be greeted and assisted by a Luxury
Africa tours representative, he or she will welcome you and gave you a short drive you’ll while
being transferred to Hotel des Mille Colline for an overnight stay and dinner as well.

Journey time:20-25 minutes from the Airport to Hotel des Mille Collines.

Day 2KIGALI CITY TOUR AND TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After having your morning breakfast at 8am, you will embark on city tour where you will pay
an emotional visit at Kigali Genocide Memorial and learn how the country has deal with its
past and recovered to stand today as a testament to human kind’s resilience. The memorial
serves as the final resting place for more than 250,00 victims of the Genocide. Later you’ll
check out and bid a farewell from the city center and proceed on a road drive of 2-3 hours
towards the north, weaving through beautiful terraced hillsides, culminates at the base of
the awe-inspiring Virunga volcanoes. Check in at Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge.

Journey time: 2-2:30 hours from Kigali Marriot Hotel to Volcanoes NPARK

Day 3MOUNTAIN GORILA TREKKING

Volcanoes National Park located in northwestern part of Rwanda, established in 1925, is one
of Africa’s oldest national parks. It is part of the Virunga Mountains and is well-known for its
volcanic landscape and diverse wildlife, especially rare giant’s mountain gorillas that are
friends to human beings.

Begin your day with an early breakfast at 6 am, followed by a stop to the park headquarters
for a short briefing about the mountain gorillas and assignment to trekking groups. At 7 am,
embark on a trek through bamboo forests, which can last between 2 to 6 hours. This trek
involves walking and hiking through the gorillas’ natural habitat in search of them. Once
gorillas are located, keep a distance of 7 meters and spend 1 hour observing and interacting
with them. You can take pictures and participate in activities that help gorillas familiarize to
human presence, ensuring their comfort with future treks. After the trek, head back to your lodge for lunch and have a relaxed massage, spend the whole evening embracing the nature.

Day 4 GOLDEN MONKEY TREEKING AND IBY’IWACU CULTURAL VILLAGE

On this day, After the finest cup of award-winning coffee/tea spend this morning searching
in the lush vegetation at the foot of Mount Sabyinyo for a beautiful little creature found only
in the high-altitude forests of Virunga Mountain Chain. You’ll track the monkeys with a
guide and you will spend an hour with them, once you locate the monkeys (a Troup of 50 or
more members), you will often need to follow them as they are often on the move jumping
from tree to tree with their long tails which is really entertaining but a little difficult to
photograph! We recommend setting your camera to a fast shutter-speed to allow for low light
in the dense undergrowth and to better your chances of capturing the golden monkeys on
film. Later you will drive back to the lodge for lunch relax at the lodge. And later in the
evening you will visit the gorilla guardians at Iby’Iwacu cultural village for a cultural
experience. You will experience one of our traditional cultural dances, dressing, food and
others, later you will drive back at the lodge for an overnight stay and dinner as well enjoying
beautiful views and sceneries of volcanoes.

Day 5TEA PICKING AND TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK

Today after having your morning finest breakfast, you will bid a farewell to the volcanoes and
drive towards the western side of Rwanda. You will visit Pfunda Tea Plantation for a tea
picking experience where you will learn more about tea, later you will proceed to the factory
and learn more on how to process tea, have lunch enroute, afterwards drive towards
Nyungwe National Park Up on your arrival you will check in at Emeraude Kivu Resort and
enjoy the rest of the night embracing the scenic tranquility of the forest in a luxurious stay.

Day 6CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND CANOPY WALK EXPERIENCE

Set off early to start your trek in search of chimpanzees in in one of the world’s most beautiful
and pristine mountain rainforests; Nyungwe Forest National Park. Once located spend one
hour with your distant cousins. The chimpanzees are surreally human in appearance and
behavior, and a whole family troop will be just a few meters away from you. Afternoon
proceed with a short hike that will amaze you with majestic views of the Canopy Walkway
and dazzling wildflowers. The views from up here are stunning, and the adrenaline will no
doubt be rushing through as you walk 60m above the forest floor.

Day 7DEPARTURE

Today you will have your breakfast at the hotel and drive back to Kigali you will have lunch
enroute and depending to your flight schedule you will be transferred to the airport for your
international flight back home.
